Episode 20: Summer Self-Care for Parents
In this upcoming episode, I will acknowledge the incredible job you will be doing by taking a moment for yourself amid the chaos of family life. Whether you'll be listening on Christmas day, like Jens, or any other day, it will be commendable that you'll be prioritising self-care. I have chosen to discuss self-care during the festive season because, as parents, it will be crucial to recognize its importance.
I will delve into various aspects of self-care, starting with recognizing stress triggers. I will emphasise the need for a proactive approach, suggesting that self-care won't just be a response to burnout but a continuous practice to maintain well-being. I will challenge the notion of waiting until your cup is nearly empty, advocating for regular, smaller top-ups to avoid burnout altogether.
I will touch on the importance of realistic expectations, the benefits of routine self-care, and the occasional necessity of "boring self-care" – the everyday habits that often slip through the cracks but contribute significantly to our well-being.
Finally, I will address the common guilt associated with taking time for ourselves, stressing that we will be solely responsible for our well-being. So, let's dive in.
